If an old printer has broken or simply doesn’t suit the needs of casual use or a small home office, then it’s time to consider a new printer. It’s sometimes difficult to decide what type of printer to buy, though, due to the wide selection of printer types and brands. One to consider for the house office or simple home use is the HP Color LaserJet cp1515n printer with CP1515n cartridge.

There is one thing that shouldn’t necessarily dissuade someone from printer shopping in general. No matter which brand of printer happens to finds its way to a shopper’s personal use, ink cartridges are going to be costly. It doesn’t seem like there’s any way around that specific to a printer, so it probably shouldn’t be a deciding factor in a purchase.

As far as printer lingo and jargon goes on the specifications sheet, the number after duty cycle is pretty meaningless. It doesn’t take into account how printers are normally used and really only exists for a few quality-control groups. Still, you should know how your potential printer is going to perform. So, estimate how much printing you’re going to do in an average month and compare that to the “recommended monthly volume” figure, or its equivalent.

In this case, the printer can be expected to print between 250 and 1000 pages per month, as per HP’s recommended monthly page volume. This reflects use in keeping with the intentions of the design and the warrantee.

Some numbers that factor into the recommended monthly volume and are good to consider independently are the printing speed and the ink cartridge capacity. For printing speed, the cp151n can print up to twelve pages of black and white materials per minute or up to eight pages of color work. 150 sheets of paper fit into the input tray and its output tray holds about 125 pages. It’s not a high volume printer by any means, but would be useful in a variety of settings.

Ink cartridge capacity is also a factor in deciding whether a particular printer suits a user’s needs. If a printer cartridge has to be replaced frequently, then a printer with a larger intended volume should probably replace it. The HP Color LaserJet CP1515n compatible toner produce approximately 750 pages of color as well as 750 pages of black and white printing.

As for image quality, the newer HP models, like the HP Color LaserJet cp1515n printer, use a technology called HP ColorSphere that has significantly improved the text and color of the materials it produces. A number of users cite a noticeable difference in the quality of the printings from previous models that they’ve owned.

The software that comes bundled with the HP Color LaserJet cp1515n printer gives a pretty good idea of what the printer is capable of, so it’s at least worth an initial install. It probably won’t see continued use, as very little bundled printer software does, but the HP Marketing Resources package can help with some sophisticated advertising materials. You will also need some HP Color LaserJet CP1515n compatible toners. If you purchase your HP toner cartridges online, you may be able to save money on your toner.

The all-in-one HP LaserJet 3055 printer is another in a line of Hewlett-Packard multifunction units designed to save an entrepreneur or a small office several hundred dollars by combining a fax machine, copy machine, a scanner and a printer into one small unit that tries to do everything with extreme competence. This HP printer using HP 3055 toner cartridge pulls this off with aplomb, it must be said.

In terms of price for one of these very versatile office machines, the 3055 sits at perhaps the upper end of the scale, coming in as it does for about $600. This is a couple of hundred dollars more than many other Hewlett-Packard all-in-one printers, but the price is certainly justified by its high quality of printing and its speed, as well. Indeed, this black-and-white laser printer is also fairly durable, which is somewhat of a surprise.

Print speed with this HP is excellent across the board, and one can reasonably expect 19 pages per minute of performance with little or no trouble at all. Getting laser printing capability at nearly 20 pages per minute from an all-in-one or multi-function printer using HP LaserJet toners is sure to appeal to most any entrepreneur out there looking to save money, yet get good performance from a multifunction printer.

The quality of the print product that will emerge from the 3055 is excellent across the board. It has a print resolution capability of about 1,200 dpi, which is more than enough to please most anyone who needs a high quality print job produced in a short amount of time. The onboard copier produces product at about 600 dpi, which is par for the course when it comes to copy machines.

Storage capacity, as far as paper on board, is a fine 250 sheets. All of this paper will be fed into the machine via a single auto load input tray. The separate output tray can hold 100 sheets of printed or copied material. Copy product also emerges at about 19 pages per minute, showing that Hewlett-Packard has paid attention to not only the print needs, but the copy needs of prospective customers.

As far as how well this HP model does and its subsidiary functions (scanning, faxing and copying), one would have to say that it does well indeed. The fax machine includes a nice 33.6 kb per second internal fax modem and its memory can hold up to 110 pages of fax or received product. It even works well as a scanner, including 600 dpi optical resolution.

The 3055 can connect to a computer via either a high-speed USB port or a very nice Ethernet 10/100 port. It can also make use of many different operating systems, including most Windows versions as well as Linux, and Apple Mac OS X 10.3 or later operating systems. This gives it a versatility that is sure to be attractive to the home office or small office entrepreneur looking for a versatile all-in-one.

For anybody not interested in a multifunction or all-in-one printer, the 3055 probably won’t be for them. Also, there are several other Hewlett-Packard multifunction printers available for a little less money. But for its price, the HP LaserJet 3055 printer certainly delivers on its promise, with good durability at 7,000 pages per month and light weight at 26 pounds. There is, indeed, a lot to like about this multifunction printer.

You’ll also like the quality of the HP 3055 toners, as well as the great price you’ll find on HP cartridge when you search online for laser printer toner cartridges.

The HP LaserJet P1005 printer with HP P1005 toner cartridge has been designed by Hewlett-Packard to deliver quality monochrome laser printing at a decent rate of speed and with a significant amount of durability and reliability. It features intuitive and simple controls and can be hooked up to a personal computer in different ways, giving it versatility that many computers at this price point don’t have.

As far as that print speed, most users will proclaim themselves satisfied with its 14 pages per minute. While not the speediest laser printer on the market (either by price or within segment) most users will be able to come upon typical Hewlett-Packard reliability. Additionally, pages will feed into the printer smoothly and will come out fairly rapidly. In fact, this device just looks nice and competent.

It seems clear that HP intended for the 1005 series to be used mainly as a personal-type printer on somebody’s desktop. It can connect to a PC through use of USB or parallel port capabilities. Most users today probably will prefer to use the USB port rather than the older-style parallel port. It doesn’t include the USB cable, though, so keep that in mind when buying a printer.

The LaserJet P1005 is also a nicely compact printer, and Hewlett-Packard has set up to work — if needed — as a kind of network printer through its included Windows Sharing suite. Once it’s installed, other users will have all of the same printer software options available to them. In reality, this printer would probably be used far more in a personal context rather than as a shared network computer.

Print resolution is fairly standard when it comes to this particular HP model, coming in at a fairly nice 600 dpi using the HP printer toner. Resolution can be 1,200 dpi when the Hewlett-Packard image enhancement technology tool is used. As far as what’s better, it would all depend on the application the printer is being used for. For most general business types, 600 dpi ought to fill the bill quite well.

Up to 250 sheets of paper can be stored within its included auto load input tray. The output tray — meaning the tray that holds what the printer has put out — can hold about half that amount. Both trays can handle a variety of different-sized paper and other media stock. It’s no problem to print out on transparencies, business cards, envelopes and certain custom-sized paper stock, as well.

Maximum monthly duty cycle — meaning the maximum number of printed pages per month the printer can image — is a more than acceptable 7,000 pages. For the environment in which the printer is intended to operate (small office/home office or very small network), this duty cycle should be more than adequate. After 7,000 pages, minor maintenance would be required, but it is really just very minor in character.

Looked at all together, there really seems to be nothing to dislike about the HP LaserJet P1005 printer. At $167 list, there’s little to quibble about in terms of price and the fact that it can easily connect to just about any personal computer quickly and run off of a wide variety of Windows operating systems is also a plus. It combines excellent durability and printing quality at a decent-enough speed for most any small or home office.

Small business and home office uses will appreciate the professionalism of the HP P1005 toners. Also appreciated with be the price at which one can obtain replacement HP cartridge via various online laser printer toner cartridges retailers.
